Pace of play matters. In recreational curling, where 8 ends must fit into a strict 2-hour window, slow play routinely cuts games short to just 6 or 7 ends. This unpredictability disrupts strategy and allows slower teams to unfairly "hog the clock", and with no solutions, many curlers are just accepting this as impossible to change. We don't think that's right!
While golf uses marshals and "pace of play" clocks and competitive curling relies on complex "thinking time" software requiring constant human interaction, neither of these solutions works for grassroots clubs. Recreational leagues lack the staff for manual timing, per sheet, and "thinking time" still doesn’t guarantee a game finishes "on time" regardless. Clubs need a better way.
