Stopwatches are great. No-one is denying that they add a great deal of information during a game and many have adopted them. For practice though, it's hard to rely on timign information when you're sliding by yourself. So you need a set of interval timers then, right? These replace stopwatches and may even be more accurate but they are much more expensive and even if you rent them from your curling club, the costs add up and they're still just giving you intervals times. Technology as a lot more to offer.

  • Next gen interval timers
    • These can be whole session trackers that are easy to set up, collect data throughout your training without much intervention.
    • These can be lower cost, so your team can now afford to buy them and use them regularly
    • Smart analysis can detect "shots" from other activities and track them seperately
  • Next gen stopwatch technology
    • Can be synced to interval timers to assess sweeper timing practices
    • Tracks stopwatch data throughout a practice session
    • Add value to your clicks.
  • Sliding speed indicators
    • Designed to analyse your slide speed and provide visual or audible cues to know your speed
    • Muscle memory works best when shots are consistently thrown, and these tools can help you get your muscle memory in tune
  • Sweeping efficiency indicators
    • For many recreational curlers, the amount of force they can apply to a broom/brush is limited. So being able to focus that energey in the right place, maximally is the best way to increase your sweeping effectiveness.
    • Tracking broom head placement while sweeping is critical to understanding how to improve.
  • Delivery position/form analysers
    • Everyone's body shape and delivery form is a little different but there are obvious clues in your setup and delivery that relate to issues in your slide.
    • Trained coaches can often see these and help you make changes, but you are limited by availability, cost and in some cases, coach capabilities.
    • Having a fixed, visual-based analysis of setup and delivery, that can detect traits over multiple slides, and point out possible improvemnts means you have a coach with you any time you practice
    • You can also review your progress over time and discuss with your coach when needed to add even more value
    • This is also a great visual tool to add to your coaching bag
  • Line of delivery analysis
    • Lasers and cameras are complex to setup, and can be expensive to acquire. You have to move them every time you change the shot style you're going for and it's not easy to utilize the video you get to identify issues and improve.
    • Whole sheet tracking systems like LIDAR-based tools, are very expensive and can really only be used by professional organizations.
    • Radar-based and camera-based tracking tools are cheaper, relatively easy to implement, portable and can easily be tracked in computer tools to help identify and correct issues.
  • Putting things all together
    • What curling tools are mssing is a well rounded and connected ecosystem of tools that can combine info fomr multiple sources and generate more comprehensive analyses.

Enter the SheetTrack suite of tools

As you add tools to the SheetTrack ecosystem, they can sync together and add value by working together.

  • So your interval timers can now be used to track your sweeper timing capabilites, while your line of delivery and your delivery and slide are tracked and analysed.
  • Your sweeping efficiency can be analysed in real time and matched with rock speed and path data to explore sweeping effects in all new ways.
  • Your coach can add more value off-ice when considering all data available.

As new tools are designed and added, you keep building on your investment, eitehher as a club, and team or individual curler
